The “ACCA VACPA Newbie to IFRS 2024” competition is for students from universities.

In the context of the Ministry of Finance approving the plan to apply IFRS in Vietnam according to Decision No. 345/QD-BTC, to help students confidently approach international financial reporting standards (IFRS) as well as the CertIFR certificate and prepare for the implementation of IFRS in Vietnam in the future, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA) in collaboration with partner universities organize the “ACCA VACPA Newbie to IFRS 2024” competition, promising to bring many interesting and beneficial contents for students from universities nationwide to access the international IFRS certificate and expand career opportunities in the finance and accounting industry.

• COMPETITION RULES:
• QUALIFYING ROUND: official registration opens (8:00 AM, June 21, 2024 – 8:00 PM, July 10, 2024)

• RANKING FINAL ROUND: Online competition on the Zoom and Kahoot platforms among participants from universities nationwide who have passed the qualifying round & Award ceremony
• Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, July 13, 2024

• PRIZE STRUCTURE:
• TOP 10 OVERALL PRIZES – 10 prizes: for the Top 10 participants with the highest scores in the Ranking Final Round. Each prize includes:

(1) Souvenir gift;

(2) TOP 10 OVERALL certificate;

(3) CERTIFR ACCOUNT SCHOLARSHIP IN VIETNAMESE (including online study materials and 3 CertIFR Vietnamese assessment exams worth 285 British pounds).

• 10 CONSOLATION PRIZES: for the next 10 participants with high scores. Each consolation prize includes:

(1) Souvenir gift;

(2) TOP 20 OVERALL certificate.

When participating in this introduction session and competition, students will have access to the following about IFRS:

• Roadmap for the implementation of IFRS in Vietnam
• Understanding IFRS and the fundamental differences with VAS
• Accessing the basic concepts of IFRS in an easy-to-understand manner through the competition and answered by experienced ACCA members.
• Understanding how to apply IFRS and learning specific examples as accountants/auditors through the answers of experienced ACCA members.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ACCA VACPA COOPERATIVE CERTIFICATE ON INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING_CertIFR:

• The ACCA-VACPA cooperative certificate on International Financial Reporting (CertIFR) in English version was introduced in Vietnam in 2018, with 83% of CertIFR learners highly appreciating the value of the certificate.
• In December 2022, ACCA and VACPA launched the Vietnamese version of CertIFR certificate, which will help overcome the language and cost barriers that students have been concerned about.
• Through the Vietnamese version of CertIFR certificate, ACCA and VACPA aim to contribute to the process of enhancing the capacity of accounting, auditing, and finance human resources to grasp international financial reporting standards (IFRS), especially in the current deep integration phase, as well as preparing for the implementation of IFRS in Vietnam in the future.
• Certificate holders will be equipped with knowledge of IFRS and skills to apply them in practice, as well as have job opportunities at VACPA member companies.
