SEMIFINALS OF THE 2024 INTERUNIVERSITY ENGLISH COMPETITION “SPELL IN A NUTSHELL”

Apart from regular classes, English clubs and inter-university English competitions provide opportunities for HSUers to improve, test themselves, and enhance their language skills.
The “Spell in a Nutshell” inter-university English competition in 2024, organized by the Dai Truong Phat Education Group along with 28 universities in Ho Chi Minh City, recently held its Semifinal – Group 2 at HSU. Participating universities included Hoa Sen University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics – Campus II, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology, University of Saigon, and International University – Ho Chi Minh City National University.
HSU was represented by 6 students from the English Language and Psychology departments: Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Bich, Pham Tam Giao, Nguyen Ngoc Xuan Nhi, Nguyen Hai Anh, Tran Cao Khanh Quynh, and Vo Thai Van Anh. At the competition, contestants competed in spelling vocabulary words in two formats: individual and team, with the following content: Unscrambled Words, Correct Spelling, and Word Puzzle.

- Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Bich, Pham Tam Giao, Nguyen Ngoc Xuan Nhi: Team Encouragement Award
- Nguyen Hai Anh: Individual Encouragement Award
Despite competing against contestants from universities with strong language programs, HSU students confidently brought home two encouragement awards in both formats. This was also an opportunity for them to learn from the language talents of other universities and showcase the image of HSU students to everyone.
