LEARNING ENGLISH, CONFIDENTLY INTEGRATING LIKE NGUYEN QUANG TRI – STUDENT WHO ACHIEVED EXCELLENT RESULTS AT THE 2024 SOUTHEAST ASIAN UNIVERSITY TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS

Recently, student Nguyễn Quang Trí – K22 English Language major at Hoa Sen University, became one of Vietnam’s representatives competing in Taekwondo at the 2024 Southeast Asian University Games. With passion, bravery, and confidence, Quang Trí excelled and won 1 Gold Medal and 1 Silver Team Medal.

From June 25 to July 6, the 21st ASEAN University Games 2024 was held in Indonesia, attracting a large number of student-athletes from 11 countries in the region. By the end of the competition, Vietnamese student-athletes had won a total of 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. The gold medals for Vietnamese student-athletes were earned in Athletics (6 golds), Chess (4 golds), and Taekwondo (2 golds).

In addition to his outstanding performance, Quang Trí was praised for his confidence and fluent English communication with other athletes at the games. With an IELTS score of 7.0 and strong English skills, Quang Trí easily connected with others and gained more experiences at events that bring together many countries like the university games. This demonstrates that foreign language proficiency is an essential asset for everyone on their journey to international integration.

Quang Trí once shared: “One thing I cannot deny about Hoa Sen is its dynamism. In each subject, I am encouraged to work in groups a lot and actively express my personal opinions. All of these activities have made us become bold in seeking and exchanging information, working responsibly, and presenting our ideas confidently and persuasively. Additionally, the experienced lecturers are comfortable with students, embracing the spirit of ‘Respect for Differences’ that Hoa Sen always strives for. The students are also very talented and friendly, so I can learn from areas where I see myself lacking. Through this, I have realized that the school has made great efforts and shown concern for us, ensuring that students possess strong ethical qualities and capabilities to pursue their own ambitions.”
