Experience of English language students
The English Language major brings knowledge about language origin, culture, people… and opportunities for international integration, according to Hoa Sen University (HSU) alumni.
Le Phuong Lan – an alumnus of the English Language major (Hoa Sen University) shared that when she was in high school, she did not know her strengths, so she chose this major because of its applicability, flexibility, and high career transformation.
After 4 years of studying at the school, Phuong Lan found this option suitable for her. The curriculum of the industry in general, at HSU in particular, is the process of experiencing culture, people and understanding the origin of that language, instead of merely learning listening – speaking – reading – writing skills.
During her studies, Phuong Lan also learned other skills such as organizing events or doing communication through activities and projects organized by the school. Those things help her gain more experience and confidently enter the real work environment.
Unlike Phuong Lan, Le Ngoc Phuong Nga – a female student who graduated as valedictor of English Language major at Hoa Sen University in 2022, said that she determined by this major early. She used to achieve high achievements in English when she was in high school.
According to her, the learning environment at HSU is dynamic and modern. The school regularly organizes many academic workshop programs. Besides, the lecturers are experienced and dedicated to students.
“Knowledge of language, skills from teachers has helped me a lot in strengthening and improving my English skills,” HSU alumni added.
Phuong Nga excellently received the title of TOEIC Ambassador of Vietnam in April 2022, certified by IIG Vietnam Education Organization – the national representative of the American Institute of Education Examination (EFT) in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
A representative of Hoa Sen University added that in addition to in-depth knowledge of the language, students majoring in English are also equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in professional fields. You can quickly integrate into a multicultural environment, have a wide career spectrum and have the flexibility to switch professions.
Depending on their interests and forte, students can apply in many fields such as translators and interpreters in businesses, diplomatic missions, NGOs; teaching at foreign language centers or other educational institutions; communication staff, event organizers at foreign companies…
At Hoa Sen University, the English Language program is divided into two small majors, in line with the professional trend of society, namely English Language Teaching; Business English and International Communication. The program meets international standards FIBAA (Switzerland) and AUN-QA (ASEAN).
The program is also evaluated and updated after four years of application through a survey of the opinions of businesses, alumni and students. Besides, learners have the opportunity to study with native speakers, exchange with international students and even exchange semesters with foreign partner universities of HSU.
The English Language major focuses on practice and application in the real environment. Therefore, students must undergo two internships, each time from 2 to 4 months at domestic and foreign establishments, enterprises, joint venture companies. “This helps you be confident and have more experience in a dynamic working environment,” the HSU representative added.
According to the university’s announcement, over the years, the rate of English language students with jobs right after graduation has always reached over 90%.
