The workshop is an annual activity to encourage and promote scientific research activities of students of Hoa Sen University. Through this activity, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their research ability, practice presentation and debate skills.

In 2017, the number of registrations at the beginning of the year was 35 topics with 92 students participating. After registering the project and being approved by the Board of Directors, students are supported with a part of the funding to conduct research and trained on 4 contents related to the implementation of a scientific research project:

1. Overview of scientific research and steps to implement a scientific research topic;
2. Qualitative research methods;
3. Quantitative research methods;
4. Anti-plagiarism and citation methods.

In the process of implementing the topic, after the professional assessment at the faculty, the number of approved topics for reporting to the school level is 24 topics with 56 students from 4 faculties: Faculty of Design and Arts, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Social Affairs and Humanities, Faculty of Tourism. In which, the leader in the number of topics is the Faculty of Science and Technology with 13 topics – 35 students.

The 8th workshop- 2017 was held and reported at 5 sub-committees:

1. Sub-Commitee of Faculty of Design and Arts: 03 topics, 03 students report
2. Mathematics – Information Sub-Committee (Faculty of Science and Engineering): 05 topics, 13 students report
3. Environment Sub-Committee (Faculty of Science and Engineering): 06 topics, 18 sinh viên báo cáo
4. Sub-committee of Faculty of Economics and Administration: 05 topics, 06 students report
5. Sub-Committee of Faculty of Social Affairs and Humanities + Faculty of Tourism: 04 topics, 12 students report

4 first prizes, each prize worth 2,000,000 VND, for the following topics:

• ‘Indochinese style in interior design in Ho Chi Minh City’, students/group of students: Nguyen Nhat Hoang Lan; Instructor (GVHD): MSc. Tran Anh Dao (faculty of Design and Art);
• ‘Research and implement effective room management solutions at Hoa Sen University’ students/groups of students: Luu Tuan Nguyen, Du Nghia Hiep, Duong Hai Minh, Le Thanh Tung; Teacher: MSc. Nguyen Huu Phat (Department of Mathematics – Information, Faculty of Science and Engineering);
• “Measuring the money laundering risk from individual customers and its determinants – the case of Vietnamese commercial banks”students/group of students: Huỳnh Hà Bảo Trân; GVHD: ThS. Nghiêm Tấn Phong/ThS. Nguyễn Bá Hùng (Khoa Kinh tế và Quản trị);
• “Perception of Hoa Sen university students towards liberal arts education” students/group of students: Trần Phương Liên, Trần Thị Anh Kiều, Châu Văn Lợi, Trần Phối Minh; GVHD: TS. Trần Ngọc Tiến (Khoa Khoa học xã hội và Nhân văn);

• “’Developing a learning interaction system through equipment” students/groups of students: La Vinh Phat, Dang Viet Tuan, Dang Bao An, Tran Quoc Huy, Teacher: Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Nguyen Van Son (Department of Mathematics – Information, Faculty of Science and Engineering);’
