DARE YOU TEACH ENGLISH 2018 – FINAL ROUND

The final round of Dare You Teach English 2018 (DYTE) featured excellent performances of six potential English teachers and participation of fellow students and lecturers of the department of English-American Language and Culture.

To enter this final round, candidates had to convince their judges of their teaching passion in writing and with a lesson plan. In fact, all six candidates successfully proved their capabilities. A variety of teaching methods were performed at a simulated classroom and learners. Many thanks go towards our featured candidates and their fellows who heartedly supported them during class hours. It is undeniable that they all together did bring to the classroom a lively, enjoyable, intriguing atmosphere.

First Prize (1.5 million VND) goes to Bui Duc Huy, teaching “Water Cycle”, with his well-prepared interactive materials and wonderful application of Total Physical Response (TPR) activities. Two Runner-ups (1.0 million VND each) were Nguyen Le Hoang Quyen, teaching “Used To” and Le Thi Phuong Lan, teaching “Asking for directions”, filling her class with fascinating games and activities. Three Third Prizes (500,000 VND each) go to Huynh Nguyen Bao Han, teaching “Past Unreal Conditional” through story lines, Tran Thi Bao Trinh, teaching “Comparative forms of Descriptive adjectives” with interesting menus, and Ly Tran Minh Nghia, teaching “Conditionals” with a traditional style.

We hope this contest has brought to the candidates valuable teaching experience and pathway to become excellent teachers in the future. For students who missed the contest this year, stay stunned! We will be back in 2019!
