The University of Oxford is a collegiate research university in Oxford, England. There is evidence of teaching as early as 1096, making it the oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world’s second-oldest university in continuous operation.

The University of Oxford is made up of 43 constituent colleges, consisting of 36 semi-autonomous colleges, four permanent private halls, three societies (colleges that are departments of the university, without their royal charter), and a range of academic departments which are organized into four divisions.

What is the Rhodes Global Scholarship?

The main goal of the Scholarship is to identify young leaders from around the world who demonstrate a promising ability to change the world and make the world a better place. This program offers up to 100 Rhodes Scholarships every year, dedicated to eligible students who wish to undertake postgraduate study at the University of Oxford.

Benefits

Successful applicants will benefit from the Rhodes Scholarship for two years in the first instance

  • The Rhodes Scholarship fully covers Oxford University and College fees, while also providing an annual stipend.
  • Selected candidates for the 2024 academic year will receive a stipend valued at £19,092 per year (£1,591 monthly).
  • Scholars are expected to utilize this stipend to cover all living costs, including their accommodation.
  • The Rhodes Trust will pay the application cost if the recipient is chosen for the Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford.
  • The Trust will finance the costs associated with a Tier 4 study visa and the International Health Surcharge (IHS), which grants international students access to the UK’s National Health Service.
  • When the time comes to travel, the Rhodes Trust will sponsor two economy-class flights to and from the UK.
  • Successful scholars will also receive a settling-in allowance on arrival in Oxford.

  • The Scholarship Program is dedicated to young individuals who demonstrate outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and a strong commitment to service. 
  • Applicants from any country worldwide are eligible to apply.

To apply for the scholarship, applicants are advised to follow the outlined procedure:

1. Select the appropriate region to begin the application process.

2. Carefully review the detailed Information for Candidates specific to the country or region of application.

3. Determine eligibility to become a Rhodes Scholar and proceed with the application.

4. Prepare and submit the required supporting documents, which may include personal statements, a CV, and recommendation letters from academic and professional referees.
