About the Connections Through Culture Grant Program

The “Connections Through Culture” grant program supports creative collaboration projects between the Asia-Pacific region and the United Kingdom. This initiative provides funding for artists and cultural organizations across all art forms to create connections and carry out new collaborative projects.

The “Connections Through Culture” grant helps artists and cultural organizations bring their ideas and initiatives to life. No matter what stage of development the project is in or what art form it belongs to, all are eligible to apply for participation.

Program Information

Funding Amounts Available:

  • Australia, New Zealand: Up to £5,000
  • Bangladesh, Mainland China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam: Up to £10,000

Themes: 

Proposals in all art forms are accepted, and proposals focusing on this year’s priority themes are encouraged, including:

  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Climate Change

Grant Usage:

This grant is intended to support the development of new projects, with a focus on artistic or creative expression. The funds will be used to promote collaborative activities, including the exchange of skills, knowledge, creative and artistic practices, or co-production of new creative and artistic content.

Projects may employ various approaches, such as artist residencies, exhibitions, performances, publications, webinars, conferences, and other formats.

Eligibility Requirements:

Before applying, it is essential to read the Application Guidelines and FAQs (see the Download section below) and ensure your application meets the following conditions:

  • Each application must include at least one partner in the UK and one partner in the Asia-Pacific region from the listed countries.
  • Applicant organizations must be registered in the UK or any listed Asia-Pacific countries (Australia, Bangladesh, Mainland China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam).
  • Individual applicants from the Asia-Pacific region must be citizens residing in any of the listed Asia-Pacific countries (Australia, Bangladesh, Mainland China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam). Alternatively, they may be individuals residing and working in the UK at the time of application and during the implementation of the proposed project.
  • Funding agencies and organizations are not eligible to participate in the program.
  • Thailand: Due to the operational structure of the British Council office in Thailand, grants can only be processed through the implementing entity in Thailand (as the main applicant or partner applicant) of the UK-Thailand CTC grant program.
  • The requested grant amount must fall within the funding limits outlined in the above table.
  • The project proposal must have a completion timeline by October 31, 2025.
  • Proposed projects must fall under one or more of the following fields of arts, culture, or creativity: Architecture, design, and fashion (including crafts); Creative technology (including gaming, extended reality, immersive, mixed, augmented, and virtual reality); Film; Literature; Music; Theatre and dance (including circus); Visual arts.
