The Malaysia International Full Scholarship is funded by the Government of Malaysia.
The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is a fully funded scholarship sponsored by the Government of Malaysia. The scholarship aims to attract talents from around the world who wish to pursue postgraduate and postdoctoral programs in the country. MIS welcomes all students with outstanding academic achievements and exceptional extracurricular activities, regardless of whether they are enrolled at public or private universities in Malaysia.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS), you must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Applicants for postgraduate programs must be under 40 years old, and applicants for postdoctoral programs must be under 45 years old.
- Academic Qualifications:
- For postgraduate scholarship applicants: A Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at the undergraduate level.
- For postdoctoral scholarship applicants: A CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at the master’s level or strong academic performance in the field of intended research.
- Postdoctoral Program Applicants: Selection will be based on published books, journals, referenced articles, portfolios, patents, or copyrights. MIS postdoctoral applicants should have a solid reputation and relevant expertise in their chosen field of study.
- Language Proficiency: Possession of a valid English proficiency certificate obtained within the last two years:
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
- TOEFL (Internet-based): Minimum score of 92
- Health: Good health is required, and the cost of a health certificate is to be borne by the applicant.
- Research Proposal: Write an essay or proposal related to your research topic.
- Admission: You must have secured admission to a postgraduate or postdoctoral program at a university in Malaysia.
Priority Fields of Study
The priority fields for the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) include:
- Science and Engineering
- Agriculture and Fisheries
- Islamic Economics and Finance
- Information Technology
- Biotechnology
- Biosecurity and Food Safety
- Infrastructure
- Environmental Studies
- Health-related fields (excluding Nursing, Medicine, and Clinical Pharmacy)
Applicants may choose any course within these fields of study.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Outstanding academic achievements
- Quality of the research proposal and its potential impact on technological advancements and human life
- Proficiency in English, including strong writing, reading, and communication skills.
General Conditions for Scholarship Recipients
- Applicants must enroll in a full-time postgraduate or postdoctoral program at one of Malaysia’s universities.
- Recipients are not allowed to change their study program during the scholarship period unless approved by both the university and the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
- Applicants must follow the approved study program and adhere to the rules and regulations of the university.It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain a visa, including completing the necessary health checks.
- If recipients fail to maintain the academic performance required by the university, their program and scholarship will be revoked.
- The scholarship is valid only for studies conducted at universities in Malaysia, meaning research must be carried out within the country.
- Scholarship recipients are not permitted to take on paid employment during the scholarship period unless approved by the university.
