Opening of the Exclusive Field Trip Week for Vinschool Students at Hoa Sen – De Montfort
On November 4, 2024, the special internship week exclusively for Vinschool students officially commenced at Hoa Sen – De Montfort. This event promises to provide students with invaluable, practical learning experiences in an internationally standardized educational environment. Let’s explore the engaging activities that took place during this opening ceremony of the internship week!
1. Opening speech by the representative of the Institute of International Education
The internship week began with an inspiring speech by Dr. Ho Truc Vi, Dean of the International Training Institute. In her speech, Dr. Ho Truc Vi introduced Hoa Sen University – a prestigious university known for its modern facilities and dedicated faculty. She also highlighted the role of the Institute of International Education in connecting students to international-standard education through a partnership program with De Montfort University (UK).
2. Leaders of the Institute of International Education present gifts and internship cards to Vinschool students
Following the impressive opening speech, the ceremony moved to a segment where gifts and internship cards were given to participating students. With the presence of Vice Dean Phu Truong Thang and Vice Dean Phan Trong Nhan, students received meaningful gifts, including handwritten cards with motivational messages, internship badges, DMU lanyards, and exclusive DMU notebooks.
These gifts are not only souvenirs but also practical tools to help students easily track and record information throughout their learning journey. The internship badge and lanyard, in particular, give students a sense of pride, marking the start of a fresh learning experience in an international environment.
3. Vinschool students participate in a campus tour
One of the most anticipated activities on the first day of the internship week was the campus tour. Students were divided into two groups of 12 to explore the university campus together. The campus tour was an opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the learning environment and understand the dynamic atmosphere of university life. This tour also allowed students to meet faculty members and staff who would accompany them throughout this exciting internship week.
Additionally, students were introduced to the “useful book” – a handy guide containing information about nearby dining spots, contact details of Institute staff, and people available to assist students throughout the week. This booklet is expected to help Vinschool students adapt and make the most of the experience at Hoa Sen – De Montfort.
4. Vinschool students attend the first class “Intercultural communication in the business environment”
Another highlight of the internship week was the specialized classes designed to help students develop practical skills. The first class, “Intercultural communication in the business environment” was taught by Dr. Edward Liam Henry Hockings, who brings extensive experience in philosophy, bioethics, international relations, political theory, and sociology.
In this class, students were encouraged to participate in group communication activities, role-playing, and case studies, improving their professional communication skills and deepening their understanding of the importance of interacting with diverse cultures in a global work environment. The entire class was conducted in English, allowing students to practice language skills and gain confidence in communication.
5. Field-trip class 2: Introduction to Finance
The final class of the day was designed to provide students with foundational knowledge in finance, titled “Introduction to Finance.” Lecturer Nghiem Tan Phong, with extensive experience in finance, guided students through the core elements of the field. Throughout the session, students learned how to analyze financial reports, understand the economic landscape, and develop strategic thinking to apply in real-world situations. By analyzing and practicing on real-life scenarios, students gained a deeper insight into how finance operates and its role within businesses.
