1. DMU students learn about the Wellness Wheel: Comprehensive health care

The Wellness Wheel is a comprehensive health model that helps students understand that health is not only about physical health but also related to many different aspects of life. The workshop focused on analyzing 8 aspects of health in depth, including:

  • Physical Health:

Students learned about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through balanced nutrition, quality sleep, and regular physical activity. These factors not only help to improve physical fitness but also improve learning and productivity.

  • Emotional Wellbeing:

This section focuses on stress management skills and effective coping strategies. Students are encouraged to identify their emotions, identify the causes of stress, and apply appropriate ways to balance their mental state.

  • Intellectual Development:

The workshop emphasized the importance of continuous learning and skill development. This includes expanding your knowledge, taking courses or challenging yourself in new areas, which will stimulate creativity and develop your thinking.

  • Social Connections:

Another important part of the Wellness Wheel model is building meaningful relationships. Students are encouraged to invest time in friends, family and the communities they belong to, as quality social connections can bring great joy and emotional support.

  • Mental Health, Career, Finance and Environment:

The remaining aspects include: finding meaning in life, building a meaningful career, managing finances wisely, and maintaining a harmonious relationship with the living environment. The workshop provided the necessary knowledge to help students understand that small changes in one aspect can lead to big improvements in other aspects.

2. DMU students participate in interesting interactive activities

Not only stopping at theory, the workshop also brings interesting and practical interactive activities. Students participated in:

  • Health tests: Help self-assess their current health status in each aspect.
  • Practice breathing to reduce stress: The two professors and DMU students practiced breathing properly to reduce stress and anxiety because according to research, there are more than 3 million young people in Vietnam who are often pressured by studying, high expectations, and easily distracted.

These activities not only help the atmosphere become more exciting but also encourage students to be more proactive in improving each aspect of their health. This is also a way to help students feel closer and easily apply the lessons to their daily lives.

3. DMU students interact with speakers from the University of North Dakota

The highlight of the workshop was the Q&A session with two professors from the University of North Dakota. With their rich knowledge and experience, the two professors brought practical perspectives and insightful advice on:

  • How to take care of yourself in a stressful learning environment.
  • Personal and career development orientation based on the balance between health aspects.
  • How to build positive and sustainable habits.

Students frankly asked questions and received practical suggestions, helping them have a clearer view of how to build a healthy lifestyle and success in the future.

4. Several moments at the workshop

The workshop “Using the Wellness Wheel to Understand Student Health and Wellbeing” brought a valuable experience to DMU Vietnam students.
