One effective approach to course design is to start by defining the learning objectives. These are concise statements that describe what students will be able to do once they have completed the course. Learning objectives are crucial because they give students a clear purpose to guide their learning efforts, help lecturers in choosing appropriate instructional activities, and guide the assessment strategies of the lecturer. Writing good learning objectives can be challenging because they must be observable and measurable. Therefore, it is important for the lecturer to plot each objective on the taxonomy table, matching each learning objective with the appropriate cognitive process and type of knowledge.
